River's Run

Navigation
Associated Chat Rooms:

In some circles the bar has another name due to word of certain illicit activities that have never been proven to happen within the walls of this somewhat run down looking place.

Located in the eastern area of Beth Bow along the river that runs through the city, outside there are no clear signs with the name. Just a single hard to read board above the door which barely has scratched on it River's Run Most that find themselves at the bar by accident, or know what to look for. The usual people that tend to frequent the are are people that you do not want to run into alone at night.

Inside there is a single bar that looks like it has seen more battles then hardened veterans, in a couple of corners there still remain pieces of broken off blades, small prizes claimed from a few of the bar fights that may break out here. There are also a few tables that look like they may have seen better days as well.

White Rose University

Navigation
Associated Chat Rooms:

The main learning institute in Ramsalon is also one of the larger ones in the whole world.

It has a sprawling complex that is made up of several white marble buildings, each with an impressive facade. There are some dormitories, but as many of the students are from Ramsalon there are not enough for the student population size.

Classes are offered in everything from magic, medicine, art, history, math, and sciences. Even some rarer studies are held during the summer, winter, spring, and fall breaks by visiting lecturers. The visiting lecturers will be housed in university owned homes in the surrounding area. Often the homes are from alumni that are out of town, or is a second home.

Most of the professors are full time, but they do exchanges with other schools for their facility when a need is seen, or enough interest is expressed among the student population. No matter if part time or full time, the university grants offices for the professors to give them a bit of a private space to conduct extra work in addition to their teaching and to be able to meet with students. No two offices appear the same as the professors have free reign to decorate as they desire, though a common theme in all of them is the stocked shelves of books and cluttered desks.

Art professors often have their work in local studios when in town.

The Library is set up rather confusingly. Most students believe it's because the librarians hate them and don't want them to find any of the books they need. That may be the case for the headmaster of the library is rarely seen, and when he is a sneer is always on his lips for those that seem to use his books and from what he believes destroy them. From the doors there is a long path, that leads to the center of the library where the main desk is. It's a circular desk so one could stand in the middle, turn, and look throughout the library. There are shelves upon shelves of books that extend from this center point in the library. Past a few rows of shelves and hidden throughout the massive collection of books are tables for students to sit at and read. The library is two stories high though only the walls of the second story are covered with books, with a small footpath to get around the second story. At the very back of the second story is a balcony that looks over the first floor where a set of couches and reading lanterns have been set up. Though it is quite a hike to get to, the balcony is a nice place to sit and read.

Dormitories of the university is in a set of large towers set off from the main part of the campus. Each room is rather sparsely furnished and small, yet it provides a place to sleep and a place to study for students of the university. The Advisers of the university should be contacted if one is interested in taking a room. Oftentimes, the students are asked to do some sort of work for the university, like teaching a lower class, or working in the library, in place of paying for a room.

Assina's Tailoring Shop

Navigation

The shop is tucked away on the bottom floor of a multi-story building. There is a hat maker next door, and a dress shop on the other.

The front room is ream after ream of fabrics, baskets of threads, yarns, needles, and other such tools. Behind the counter, which is at the far end of the front room, is the workshop which has six tables, and plenty of space for people to do their craft.

A tall, stern, and proper woman named Michelle Assina (NPC) owns the property. She has three rules: A proper stitch, a quiet team, and timeliness.

Upstairs are rent-able flats, and the top story is where Michelle lives.

Yungue City is nestled in the Mojingan Valleys and is the trade capital of Shi Inkahan. It is also the second largest city on the continent, located on the river south of the Kiotoi the capitol. It mostly sees goods coming by ship from Wang Port (coming ultimately from the other continents) and the various islands south and east of Shi Inkahan, which are transferred at Yungue to riverboats travelling to Kiotoi and the innards of the country, as well as goods travelling in the opposite direction, from Kiotoi out to the islands, Wang, and the other continents.

Yungue is an extremely influential part of Shi Inkahan, not only because it is so important in terms of trade, but also in the fact that it is very strong in cultural values. Being the second largest city in Shi Inkahan, Yungue is quite a thing to travel through. It is divided into 4 districts, Lotus, Rose, Glade, and Willow, each serving a different purpose. Lotus District is the government capital of the city. Dishojin Palace is here, as are the headquarters for the two main guard bodies of the city. Rose District is a rather mix-and-match place, home to the renowned Rose Petal Gardens, Water Lily Inn and Cherrywood Grove. Glade District is the shopping central of Yungue, what one might call "Downtown". It is home to shops and stalls of all kinds. Finally, the district that gave Yungue its title trade capital of Shi Inkahan, Willow District houses ports and docks of all kinds, always waiting the next shipment of this or that. Yungue is run by Lord Gachiro Burutai ka Togramatsu who lives in Dishojin Palace with his mother, High Lady Ravi Togramatsu Other major aristocratic families in Yungue include the Nakazawa clan. Overall, Yungue is a very beautiful city with a rich, historical past that is quite a hit with the tourists.

The Gardens

One of the star attractions of Dishojin Palace is the gardens that surround it. These beautiful masterpieces of floral art simply astonish and stupefy the mortal man or woman. You can literally find any kind of flower you like in these sprawling greeneries, as well as any kind of shrub, plant, or tree. The gardens are so large, in fact, that citizens have been known to get lost in them! The garden on a whole is bordered by a large shrubbery that forms a wall standing roughly 8 feet tall. Even this is very well decorated, with roses and lilies popping out of the side here and there. Of course, even this garden has it’s purpose in the workings of Dishojin palace. You see, the gardens give the White Swords a tactical advantage. If anyone is found in the palace that needs to be captured and jailed, for whatever the reason, they will have a difficult time escaping the gardens. Why? There is only one exit! There is a single archway that leads into the garden, and this archway faces the palace front and center. If a couple of White Swords guard this passageway, any robber or thief will have a very difficult time escaping the palace. Apart from their tactical usage, the gardens are simply a beautiful place where the average commoner can escape from the trifles of the world around them. Quynh Qiweth, the innkeeper of the Water Lily Inn is known to spend her days here as well…

Throne Room

This room is even more beautifully decorated than the rest of Dishojin Palace, if that’s even possible. Looking much like a chapel in a church, the Throne Room is lined with beautiful windows of different shades and tints, allowing a beautiful multitude of coloured lights into the room. There are two large rooms located on either side of the Throne Room. These hold chairs and other things of the sort, used for when High Lady Togramatsu so decides to hold a meeting, conference, or otherwise. At any time other than these, the room is rather empty. One large, velvet throne crowns the room standing directly adjacent, quite a few meters away, from the doorway (which, by the way, is carved from magnificent linden wood). A few “lesser” thrones are placed to the right and behind the throne. These are for Togramatsu’s councilors and advisors. It should be noted that two White Swords are placed on either side of the main entryway, and 4 more are located around the room at all times. Though this room is open to the public, it is very highly protected.

The Slums

The majority of Iskrania the tall apartment buildings, the rotting factories, the machine works that pump out a constant plume of black smoke. These types of structures ring the inner circle of the elite, this is where the common man lives, the foul stench, the dirt and dust, life here is by no means pretty, but it's life none the less. The working class is the busy class, tinkering on machines, cooking food around group fires, living high in their apartment buildings. Wandering around here at night is not necessarily a good idea, there are groups of guards formed and run throughout The Slums all working out of one area and patrolling the entire thing, but due to the simple size and layout of the city, it is a hunting grounds for beasts of both human and other races.

GHOUL Embassy

This building has been converted to GHOUL's Embassy to Iskrania, with One-Eyed Magnus the cyborg Yeek Lom Gunji GHOULite, as Ambassador.

It was a fortified, hidden position, from whence One-Eyed Magnus led the followers of Gaunth's way here in Iskrania, and still bears apparent traces of its origin. It is, for the most part, one of the many factories, indistinguishable from the rest. The ground-level entrance leads only to a factory floor that produces some sort of incomprehensible widget or something. There are also many hidden, ensorcelled secret entrances, mostly underground. This city had very little underground network before Magnus came along; it still doesn't have much, but it has a little.

It should also not be confused with the Orcish settlement of New Ghuundagor which is actually outside the Line In The Sand that constitutes Iskrania's border, and was abandoned during the war and will not be resettled, as per the terms of the treaty.

Roundabout Way

The only street that goes full circle around Iskrania, four wagons wide and littered with the various shops and places that the people of the slums go to work, eat and sleep. The most patrolled street in the slums, also the most safe. Machines putter to and fro, taking goods from shop to shop and performing menial grunt tasks. Many many roads shoot off of this one and out of the city or to dead ends.

West Beach

Stretching northwest from Ish-Lavín up into Lavín's Gulf, the beautiful shoreline is an oft-visited destination. In this picture you are looking north and can see the land stretching NW around the Gulf away from you on the left.

Replete with both pirate coves and romantic hideaways, the savvy tourist will generally stay closer to the city and the savvy pirate further away; on occasion the disparate groups will bump into one another. Advantage: Pirates

The Whispering Waters

Looking upon the “The Whispering Waters” one will see a three story building made of white stone much like most of the buildings in the city. A few balcony’s are decorated with plants and the like, seeming to be connected to some of the finer rooms.

As one walks into the main entrance of “The Whispering Waters” they will find a clean well kept pub and eatery, entertainment taking stage at various times through the day or night. Serving a wide variety of drinks and meals one can find most anything they can think of, some more special items able to be specially arranged for the more regular customers to enjoy if they ask of it. The lighting bright as sunlight shines through a few windows within the main room, at night becoming dim. Light only coming from various candles, and a single large fire place in the back. The furnishings are new and it seems the place has been recently remodeled, giving a very fresh and professional feel. Four uniformed Bouncers are posted in a few various places of the main room, mostly near the entrance or stairwell.

Stairwell

A stairwell will lead guests up to their rooms for the evening, but it does not end at the second floor where the rooms are and if one were to move up to the third floor they would see a large steel door labled VIP room.

The Office

The Office is a large room connected to the VIP section, it has a few very comfortable chairs spaced about the room as well as a finely crafted desk with a single chair behind it, to the back of the room there is a large window/balcony with a few seats which is decorated by varoius potted plants. All and all it is a very nice room, decorated with paintings and a few small statues. The lighting in this room happens to be unlike most of the club, very bright really. From a good number of tourches in the evening and a large fire place, by day a good deal of sun light makes it's way inside illuminating well enough.

Town Center

Several blocks away from the resorts, away from the warehouses and the beach is the center of the actual township of Ish Lavin Here one can find the guildhouses and government offices.

Bugget Manor

One of the old founding families that settled in Ish Lavin when the city was just being born. Before the resorts were finished both the Bugget and the Flugget families had their estates in place, the Manor is a large building with around 20 bedrooms, a massive dining hall and a very good sized courtyard and riding area.

City Hall

The City Hall is a large, impressive white structure at the center of the Town Center Within the building are a lot of government workers that keep tabs on the way the city is working as well as dated shipping logs, tax logs and a number of other important government services.

City Jail

Situated right next to the Security Building the Ish Lavin jail is a one story above ground, four stories below ground structure. Each cell has three beds and there are about fourty cells total. The jail goes relatively unused until the Fleet comes to town, then it ends up being grand central for overly drunk individuals to sleep off the booze.

Flugget Estate

One of the old founding families that settled in Ish Lavin when the city was just being born. Before the resorts were finished both the Bugget and the Flugget families had their estates in place, the Flugget Estate is a large, five story building with around 20 rooms. There is a famous stables here and a large, well maintained riding field surrounding the estate.

The Little Red Toad

The Little Red Toad is a small, comfortable tavern founded by a sage named Arburo Semblin. He had a penchant for the tiny, sentient red toads found in the swamps and near the coast. The tavern looks like a tavern founded by a sage, replete with bookshelves and all manner of unusual decorations, mostly centuries-old artifacts and pieces of art, though none too unusual or sensitive to be left out. The fare here is quite palatable and the drinks are excellent. It's a little pricey and as a result it is frequented most by the city's more wealthy patrons, though it is not a posh establishment. Some local sages and magic-users tend to frequent the place as well, not surprisingly.

Mage Guild

The Mage Guild if Ish-Lavín just seemed to pop up one night. Government officials never seemed to mind, though if that is because of an arrangement behind-the-scenes or not only the mages and the government will know.

The Ish-Lavín Mage Guild doesn't look too unusual from the outside, it looks to be about the size of a three bedroom house with a recently expanded grounds and open-air gazebo. The more recent additions lend the place a more grandiose appearance reminiscent of the Mage Guild of Ramsalon; this is not a coincidence. The external appearance of the guildhall is deceptively small; once you enter the Mage Guild things seem to expand and the place is quite large.

Mercenary Guild

The Mercenary Guild in Ish Lavin is a small group of able bodied fighters that hire themselves out to visiting vacationers and nobility as bodyguards. Their building is a three story tower of sorts with their own armory and holding cells in the basement. The guild is most busy in the summer when the tourist population is at its peak, and in the winter when the wealthy from the frigid north take a break from the white snow and come to see the white sand.

Navigator Guild

Next to the Sailors Guild is the Navigators Guild. A breed of sailor that rely on their mental prowess and intelligence rather then on their physical abilities. Navigators are masters of maps and star reading and know the channels around Ish Lavin like the back of their hands. Without a Navigator a sailing vessel might as well not leave the port.

Residential Area

The Residential Area is where a majority of the actual citizenry of Ish Lavin make their homes. Located on a rocky hill between the Town Center and the forest there are dozens of private communities as well as many large apartment and condominium complexes. Overall nearly 17,000 residents make this their permanent home, living either in the well furnished, expensive houses or in the slightly less expensive luxury apartments and condominiums. If one desires cheap housing they are directed to the Ferry Docks that head on a regular schedule across the gulf to Miser

Sailors Guild

Across the main plaza from the City Hall is the Sailors Guild. A large, wooden building it looks out of place in the otherwise white-stone city. Within the Sailors Guild there is a large meeting room and a few offices. This is the place to sign up if you want to make sure you get a decent sailing job without having to worry about pay and the hassle of finding a good captain.

Town Security Office

Next to the impressive City Hall building is an equally impressive Town Security building. It stands two stories high with another two stories below the ground. The Ish Lavin version of town guards work from this building, about 400 men active duty on a bi-weekly rotation, at any given time there are 75 men ready to be on the street dealing with trouble, when the Fleet rolls into town the number of active duty Security is increased to deal with potential troubles.

White Rock Inn

Co-owned by the Bugget and Flugget families, the White Rock Inn is a very good sized structure with twelve full size rooms and a renound kitchen. Their beverage selection at the bar is broad and given a few weeks advanced notice they will import foods for esteemed guests. The building itself is made of the same white rock that a lot of the rest of the city is built from.

Inland Port

Up the river, past the naval yard there is a large Inland Port Ships can dock here long term or short term and a massive dry dock is here, ready to take on any ship, of any size for full repairs.

Large Docks

Nine large docks, each of which can accomodate four ships. Unless The Fleet is in town these docks generally are at half-capacity being loaded and unloaded then carted to the Warehouse District or onto waiting caravans to head on the north trade routes.

Massive Dry Docks

These are the massive dry-docks used to pull even the largest vessels out of the water to have routine maintenance performed upon them. These are primarily used by the SI Fleet though large merchant vessels and barges can sometimes be seen floating eerily above the water.

Midsize Docks

Six docks, each of which can accomodate two ships. This set of docks are generally full most of the time, though due to the effective dockworkers ships are constantly pulling in and then pulling out. When The Fleet comes to down their midsized ships take over these docks.

Port Authority Office

The Port Authority office is a large structure that provides a way to stop just anyone from going to the Inland Port. All persons with business in the port are issued identification and must pass through the Port Authority checkpoint. There are of course several ways around this, but the Port Authority usually keeps pretty good tabs on what goes on at the Inland Port.

Private Marina

A marina which caters to the citizens and vacationers of Ish Lavin Private yachts and other non-merchant vessels can be kept here year round, the marina even goes as far as to do maintenance twice a year for no extra charge. There are a good number of people that live on their boats in the marina that do their business in Ish Lavin.

Small Docks

Three small docks, each of which can accomodate one ship. These docks are always full, the moment one ship slips out another takes its place.
